   @deprecated_ii @Fiddle it does still happen. Your classmates get jobs and then they can recommend you for positions within their company. How often that actually happens is pretty variable

     @deprecated_ii it's good to get a degree but the main point of going to college for cs/software engineering is to network up with your future business partners.

     it's weird that in the worst tech job market in decades, all these channels are saying you shouldn't bother with a degree. is this sabotage or something
     
     yes, it's true that you can find jobs in tech without a degree. but you will absolutely be *better off* with one, regardless of where you are in your career
     
     obviously you should not go $300k into debt going to a meme school like carnegie mellon. just pick up the cheapest computer-related BS you can find from a regionally accredited school and move on with your life
