@timnitGebru@dave the fact they have deliberately left chunks of UI/UX out that were first generated because of Black folks and are now part of social media vernacular ON PURPOSE, tells me everything i need to know. my health has postponed me moving out of this instance but it's on my todo list. it's unconscionable that they've decided to use the code base as a defacto enforcer of segregation.
Really appreciate the question & the answer bc I was cluelessly #Mayonnaisian, just watching the conversation and trying to stay in my lane & learn something
And I did! Note to my yt self: shutting up & listening WORKS
@sysop408 Short answer: Quote-tweets got turned into a safety feature on Twitter by Black users. If someone was being shitty; a user could quote-boost & get other users to defend them/clap back
Some ppl here have resisted quote-boost because they thought it encouraged piling on--but per above piling on was essentially deserved, brought upon someone by racist behavior
When people flooded here in 2022 & asked abt QBs, they were told to shut up, which adds to perception that Mdon is racist
