   Oooh, I missed this one on July 15th! Death Valley National Park had a power outage when the temperatures were 125F, which required evacuating NPS employees, families, and pets to nearby hotels which still had power; they had to wait for SCE to fly a helicopter to replace a downed powerline.

   (power outage in Death Valley = potential mass heatstroke impact)

     @ai6yr @cvvhrn In AZ (Grand Canyon, many trails around Phoenix) there are signs that flat out say YOU MAY DIE! & these people STILL go out there. Lots in Utah as well, tho they aren't as blunt as AZ in their signs.

     @cvvhrn It seems like the risks are higher and higher, and the tourist are more and more clueless, for sure -- and as you know that risks everyone who has to rescue them from that cluelessness.

     @ai6yr It kills me but they need to close the desert parks if its over 120 (heck maybe lower) Joshua Tree as well.

     I know it sounds judgy but the general population is simply too stupid to be safe in those conditions. I know what I am doing and wont venture out
