The silliness of the entire social media industry:
1) There are like 1000 Black women social media accounts that determine the center of gravity of social media. Where those accounts are, determine which social media network is the hot one. You can literally see these accounts in network graphs.
2) No one treats these 1000 accounts particularly well. No one listens to or prioritizes their needs.🤷🏿♂️

@mekkaokereke not to be totally mercantile but this could be a really lucrative niche for someone to spin up AWS or other cloud instances for ephemeral entities like campaigns with a simple migration path elsewhere upon cometion -- and fedi already has the migration path established something that ZERO commercial social nets have.

Yup.
The Fediverse is so reflexively anti-capitalist, that it veers into silliness of hating anyone wanting to get paid for anything. It's anti-labor, and anti-worker owned production. People are afraid to mention their own books that they wrote. Artists are afraid to point people towards their own creations.🤷🏿♂️
And people who provide Fediverse services (like hosting, or moderation) are afraid to offer them.
Commerce != Capitalism. In fact, it can be the best counterbalance to it.

I think a politician should be able to get a message out to their followers, directly, without going through a filter controlled by the news media or by the interests of large capital. I think that message should only be governed by what is legal (ie, no incitement to insurrection or genocide).
The far-right already has something similar in Gabs and Truth Socials etc. AOC has something close, with IG Live, (but filtered)
