IceCubeSoup (icecubesoup@noauthority.social)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Jul-2024 09:37:27 JST IceCubeSoup yes, running actual ethernet is the best. That's what I do, and just have a new cheapie router at the end of the cable.

fry (fry@noauthority.social)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Jul-2024 09:37:29 JST fry @GettingCooked what's your router make/model? Extenders are boosters. Same thing. Terrible products all of them. If your main router is "mesh" enabled then get a satellite mesh point that's compatible. Or, the best option would be to run an Ethernet from the router to a nearby space and put whatever you want there - be aware that you need to disable some settings on whatever it is to not hose the network, and match up Wi-Fi settings between the two.

GettingCooked (gettingcooked@noauthority.social)'s status on Wednesday, 24-Jul-2024 09:37:30 JST GettingCooked I'm not sure if it's a wifi booster, or extender that I need (is there a difference?) to keep the laptop from buffering when I'm out on the back patio. Ideas? Models anyone suggest?
