i stopped eating sugar for three days.
it's interesting to feel the withdrawal symptoms.
on day 2 and 3 i had constant low-level headaches. even during the night.
sugar really is a nasty drug !

dunno.
there're probably different reasons for headaches.
i think mine came from either rebelling bacteria in my intestines (they're protesting to get more sugar) or my brain running low on glucose and beeing a bitch.
@mk persevere fren!
out of curiosity, does coffee help with the headaches? black of course but i've noticed it stays some headaches myself
right now i'm only eating meat and drinking water.
i'm trying this for two weeks (maybe longer) as a experiment.
really interesting to feel your body shift from using sugar (glucose) to fats (ketones)
"ketone bodies, a type of fuel that the liver produces from stored fat."

maybe i'll make a cheat day once a week to get some micronutrients from veggies and berries.
@mk decent! if taking in meat, maybe mix in some fresh fruit? just thinking of the missing minerals from good fruit, typically citrus.
nonetheless, nixing the carbs and sugar will definitely not hurt, especially the latter. there are complex carbs that ain't bad, just only in abundance.
4.5 weeks into carnivore diet
80% meat
20% blueberries, onions, paprika, cheese, eggs, nuts
i'm feeling great !
- sugar cravings have become much less
- less hungry
- shopping is cheaper
- lost weight
- nose-breathing is fine again (especially during the night)
- sleeping better
- less headaches
- more energy
i'll keep going !
@mk thanks for that article, very enlightening! didn't think that fruits were carb rich. vegetables makes sense but a melon or an orange, takes me a bit aback.
actually, i like your idea of a cheat day once a week. kinda follows the body for life program. good minerals not in the meat that the fruit would provide plus gives your liver a break too.
please keep me looped in on your progress. great to hear you're on track!
60% ground beef (cheap and fatty)
20% sausages (cheap and fatty)
20% pork neck steak or diffent more lean meats. (less fatty, but tastes good. I like the variety)
---
i'm eating ~1kg meat per day.
1kg ground beef is ~2600kcal.
1kg lean meat is ~1800kcal.
@mk nice! and i'm really happy to hear of the positive outcomes! seeing the sugar cravings diminish is fantastic. had a similar effect with nixing gluten, a cake looks like death to me now.
what's the range and typical ratio of meats? got a local rancher for beef but curious if a diversified blend is needed
