   I think a fundamental conceptual distinction between here and the other place is that this social network is and has been used by people who prioritize their mental health over reach, while the other place was designed to manipulate you into using it, which included an aspect of incentivizing reach.

   Reach is growth mindset shit and, eventually, attracts conflict. Most of the people I know here favor a positive healthy experience over aspiring for reach.

     To preempt responses of "that creates a bubble": bubbles aren't inherently bad. Nobody wants someone to pick a fight with them when they're just out at a coffee shop talking with a friend. People have a right (and a responsibility to themselves) to choose when and in what social spaces to engage with conflict.

     There is no moral obligation for anyone to indulge hostility or contentiousness in every space a person occupies, anytime someone demands it. Boundaries are good actually.
