     @hj you could get a MTB hardtail like the Cube Reaction Hybrid Pro 750 2023 model for around 2300 EUR (German price) and seeing that the 2024 model costs 4600 EUR, it would be a great deal.
     
     I'd be kinda scared to cycle around with it in an urban setting though - like your experience with the batteries

     @hj another downside is that ebikes weigh from 23-26 kg. so depending on whether you have to get it into your apartment, it could be a bother

     i also had an e-bike stolen, complete with the fucking chain it was "locked" (front wheel to the frame, but not anything to the """immobile""" rack)

     @hj @kaia try a push-scooter? They're a lot of fun. Downsides:
     >you look ridiculous
     >light and easy to fold and carry with you, but business NPCs are programmed to reject e-scooters at the door
     >much harder to free a hand on one
     >you might sweat too much for where you're going
