   In the USA, most (maybe all?) long distance fiber runs next to railroad lines.

     Did you know SNCB used to build out and maintain a giant fiber network across Belgium?
     This tiny tube next to a railway line is still part of the core internet today!

     They did sell B-Telecom off to Eurofiber, because fiber tubes... Who invests in that right... Though even today SNCB/Infrabel still gets calls to look at those 😅
