One of the great strengths of computers is consistency. They may not do everything we want done. They may follow a bad model, a bad assumption, or a programmer error right off a cliff. But at least they can do that •consistently•, giving us humans a bedrock of predictability to work with and work around. But not ChatGPT!

I have seen obvious examples of simple stupidity, misunderstanding of basic prompts, lack of flexibility in language comprehension, and an inability to recognize valid illustrations from wildly inaccurate ones.

LLMs can give you considerably more than eloquent garbage, if they have an education, say a law degree, bolted onto them with an expert system - which you can now buy. LLM front end - verifiable facts back end.

LLMs: designed for language things. If you use a language thing for predictability, boy-o, you will not get consistency.
