     @NEETzsche I disagree. Twitter only exists so you can see stupid opinions from stupid people (often stupid people with power) and maybe have a chance of a small-time account replying by calling them a fag.
     
     meanwhile, on the Fediverse, we can have thoughtful conversations about anime porn.

     @noyoushutthefuckupdad fedi is boring because it has become stagnant. It's the same faces over and over again, spouting the same points in very slight variation. On top of that, there are only so many topics that people really discuss here. Sure, you can occasionally find somebody discussing other things, but you wouldn't find an active, say, automotive community on here. Not like you would elsewhere on these proprietary services like Twitter. If it doesn't have anything to do with tech sperging, e-drama, anime tits, or niggerposting, there's going to be a dearth of it here.
     
     Now, I've heard all the cops on this topic. "Oh, I see people talking about other things all the time!" But what they don't mention is that these things don't get discussed with the kind of consistency that the four mentioned topics do, and they are discussed on Twitter.
     
     So yeah. It's gotten boring.

     @NEETzsche you have a point. the Fediverse is assuredly laser-focused on those few topics, and I do spend most of my time here discussing electronic games and gook toons. if you started a new instance for automotive chat, it would go nowhere and you would probably be so frustrated you would try (may Allah forgive me for uttering this word) Reddit.
     
     the isolation of the Fediverse is both a blessing and a curse. we're free from normalfags, but also condemned to jerk each other off about a few specific topics.
     
     still, Twitter? death to Twitter.

     @noyoushutthefuckupdad I'm using Twitter and I'm enjoying it. I'm enjoying it because I run into people who I don't really agree with, I'm enjoying it because I run into people who have interests that I do not. There is actual, real, diversity there. I know that word has become a bad word because it just means more blacks in most contexts. But what I mean by it is there's variety. Everybody of all perspectives and persuasions and backgrounds actually do use Twitter. And that does make the user experience of it richer. Also, it's gotten less censored under Elon Musk. I don't want to say it's totally free speech, because it absolutely isn't, but it's certainly less censored than any of us would have expected of it before Elon Musk started buying it. Of
     
     As for being shielded from normal fags, I don't really care about that. On twitter, you can be in your little cloister, and then choose to leave it from time to time as you see fit. We don't have that option here. If I want to leave this cloister I have to leave this service.
     
     Not only is the subject matter limited, but in many ways it's very obvious that the culture is downstream of 4chan. This has some advantages, but some disadvantages too. There's this active effort to "filter" people, and the filters aren't really that intelligent. Just because somebody gets offended with illustrations of little anime girls being raped or find the nigger word distasteful doesn't mean that their perspective is totally unworthy of being heard out. And people on this side of fedi will go out of their way to pick a fight with these people.
     
     While it can be entertaining at some moments, the consequences are legitimately bad. What's worse is the people who do this insist that the consequences are good, because it means that everybody who isn't an anime tech sperg who says nigger won't be on here for very long.
     
     The correct take would be to encourage everybody to start their own instances so that anybody can join and discuss the things that actually matter to them, in the manner that they find appropriate, and blocking the instances who aren't willing to color inside those lines. As I said before in many other posts, it's Free Speech but also free association. We absolutely should have been encouraging grannies to start their knitting circles on fedi. But those filter niggers actively work against it, and it's an uphill battle even without that shit.

     @NEETzsche I find Twitter detestable for the great number of narcissists, liars, and downright demonic motherfuckers. I quit using it around 2016 because it was making me a worse person; I was growing snippy, spiteful, and somewhat arrogant, and that had to stop.
     
     a big part of my attraction to the Fediverse is that it's largely full of people whose company I truly enjoy. I get enough of going outside my comfort zone in my daily life; I have family and acquaintances who would gladly harm or destroy me for upvotes, and I need to get away from that.
