it isn't a trump card the left holds over the right, though; the republican party has been the anti-slavery party since lincoln.
The abolitions willfully lied about things in order to move their agenda.
This entire conception is similar to saying "90% of ocean plastic comes from Asia, strict bans that make a tiny difference here at high cost will do nothing" to a progressive. That isn't the point at all.

if slavery doesn't deeply move you, you aren't a republican but essentially part of the group that left the democratic party

@WilhelmIII it's interesting because many abolitionists are very much like communists in that regard; kill all the masters and there will be no slaves.

Slavery has existed since antiquity.
Slavery exists now.
How am I supposed to be moved by a futile act that killed an entire generation of Americans for essentially just transferring the Negros from a few slave holders in the South to being owned by the government?
Might as well yell at clouds.

@WilhelmIII whereas what has happened is the good masters have been slaughtered and we have only been left with the worst ones.

When the only thing that will actually work is to kill all the slaves.
Killing the current masters just begets new masters.

@WilhelmIII you are a slave, though.

@sapphire exactly. what I'm saying it isn't the left holding the right hostage on this. The conservatives want to be held accountable for this sin and they want to constantly be punished for it.

@sickburnbro @sapphire The inteligensia at the top of rightoid shit don't suffer the consequences us regular jackoffs have to deal with it so they're totally fine with wanting to be "punished" because they don't suffer any for it

@internetfreak @sapphire that's where things get interesting. I think a lot of normal conservative people do have that feeling of wanting to be held accountable, but it's ultimately a luxury believe, one which most people are losing the ability to afford.
