@BeAware It certainly is not. But I think Mastodon has the most sustainable platform. And it can’t be bought and silenced.

I do spend time on Threads, but the quality of posts here are an order of magnitude more sophisticated than they are over there. I really appreciate that. #mastodon

@BeAware You aren’t wrong there. Everyone is just trying for easy cred by copying other memes/videos. It’s obvious and lame.

@BeAware I was initially excited about some of the stuff I saw them doing, but yeah, it’s feeling pretty lackluster over there these days. I actually pay to support an instance here and I’ll keep on paying. Mastodon is worth it.

@jasohill I do have issues with the way Mastodon devs are developing their software.

ActivityPub, in general, is way more than *just* mastodon, as I'm sure you know. But, since they have 72% of all instances on Fedi, they can just make their own features, without worrying about adding value to AP. This forces other devs to adopt their code or be left behind.

I think overall, this is bad for Fediverse and needs to stop happening. Though, I don't think it will and the other devs will just have to deal with it, unfortunately.

Sorry to infodump my negative opinions, but I do think it should be talked about.

@BeAware Yeah, it does have the lion’s share. I fear that in open source environs that can happen. Smaller teams, fewer developers and less funding can cause the one group that gets those things to have too much influence and dominate. I think I’ve see think in the Linux distribution world as well.
