   #Fediverse etiquette varies almost per individual IME, so I err towards unobtrusive. Don't want to bug folks who don't want to be bugged, but do want to be able to read/support interesting folks. Hence, I sometimes follow without an initial interaction.

   If I follow your profile w/o a proper intro, it's likely because

   * You interacted first, I read your profile, and think you're neat
   * I somehow randomly stumbled across your profile, read it, and think you're neat
   * You're a creator or content outlet that I want to support

   Point being, it's out of genuine interest in you as a person/entity.

     Hopefully you haven't gotten harassed for merely following people. That's kinda the point of this place, isn't it?

     Follow. Follow often. Fedi works specifically off Follow relationships so it'd be kinda weird if someone harassed you for following people...😶

     @headcanonical makes sense, I guess.

     It wasnt so much of a counter, as it was a "if this is happening, I'd like a link so I can point and laugh at the fool".

     I don't see foresee you having issues. Better to be safe than sorry though.

     @BeAware Fair counter. No, nobody's been weird about follows - if anything, I've had generally excellent interactions across the fediverse - but this is a relatively new account, so I figure it's worth providing some attestation that I pass the Turing test and/or am not a jerk.
