A high protein and fat/no carb diet boosts metabolic rate. That's partly because your body synthesizes carbs from the other calories you intake, but it can't synthesize all the protein/amino acid profiles you need from carbs. Additionally, the nutrition found in meat and dairy is more bioavailable than what's in vegetables or grain foods. -
