    As a Green Party member, this makes me very happy this morning ❤️

    And just heard about Liz Truss, the icing on the cake 🤣

      @richardmedh true, although to be fair that's down to the UK's very undemocratic voting system...

      @kleinertod @richardmedh there was a hakf-arsed attempt to change it when the Lib Dems were in coalition with the Tories, but it came to nothing. The big parties are not interested...

      There are occasional "advantages" like right now, Reform UK (the UK's AfD) getting very few seats despite a big vote share, but that's still unhealthyin the long run, in my opinion.

      @mario @richardmedh A vote should have the same impact no matter where it goes. This is absurd.

      @shiawase @kleinertod @richardmedh the voting behaviour/ actual number of votes would be different too though, because many people wouldn't be forced to vote tactically for the lesser of two evils, but could vote for their preferred candidate.

      @mario @kleinertod @richardmedh
      if allocated proportionally (at 1% = 6.5 seats) Reform would be circa 91 seats, Green 44, Labour 215, Con 154, Lib 78,
      I think the hope is that under STV the more extreme parties are eliminated in round 1. and some smaller parties have more chance at gaining traction.
      None the less the rightward march of politics is depressing.

      Only voting reform on the horizon is the expansion of the vote to 16yr olds.
