     @alainamartin The CEO of Reddit, wrongly thinking that they have the right to sell my content to the highest bidder.

     Initially wanted to deal with Lemmy or Kbin, but quickly moved to Mastodon and might move again to another, better, microblogging software soon enough.

     @alainamartin Well, in simple terms, what we have here is basically like email. With email, you can be on outlook, Gmail, protonmail, etc. But still are able to talk to other emails no matter which platform you choose.

     However, it IS way more advanced than email in the fact that there's MUCH more here that's "federated" than just text/media posts like this.

     If you read the "Software using ActivityPub" section of the ActivityPub Wikipedia page, that should give you some ideas about what is possible thus far.

     @rolle yes that’s one of the main reasons I decided to try this out for at least 30 days but so far I’m really liking it and hardly been on Facebook!

     @rolle totally understand I needed a #facebook alternative somewhere I can post text, pictures and video and a place that people understand me a bit more! I notice what big corporations are doing and it seemed like no one on FB cared or realized so it was kinda lonely on there preaching lmao

     @alainamartin Exactly. I also craved for that freedom I had like 15 years ago in social media, before the excessive likes and commercial money making algorithms. In here we have that, because no company will decide on what we see or post. We, the users, have finally the power.

     @alainamartin The downfall of Twitter. Needed a platform very close to it UI-wise, preferably more open API-wise. Mastodon and the Fediverse had it all.
