iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jul-2024 11:24:12 JST iced depresso i feel like if i made training books it would have stuff like
here are some example 3d renders in different perspectives. we do a little lighting study.
so many training materials are just bad. they tell you shit like "crossfade lever make song go" but then nobody says anything about "everyone is staring at you oh god you played cringe" :ablobcatgooglytenor:- Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this.

> this is not Quinn posting the DJ is actually drunk

I play with Mixxx sometimes. I have this little Starlight by the desk (the big Hercules got exiled to a table) but I haven't like.. actually tried to build a playlist or anything -

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jul-2024 13:55:30 JST iced depresso @mia the only library management i've used is whats stuck in to quod libet. i just sorta know what the bands sound like, unless its the pile of really obscure ones where there's like one track only in the library :neocat_solder_googly: -

miauz genyau (mia@movsw.0x0.st)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jul-2024 13:55:31 JST miauz genyau @icedquinn the reason i ranted about mixxx is that it makes this task very difficult for someone who doesn’t already have the experience. it provides zero assistance and it’s kind of a pain to work with.
when i prepared sets, i relied on other software that has a better library UI: clementine, cantata, or even cmus.
ADD task inertia really doesn’t help with this: i run out of spoons trying to queue songs and practice in mixxx because it’s just not fun. -

miauz genyau (mia@movsw.0x0.st)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jul-2024 14:02:23 JST miauz genyau @icedquinn mixing in key for example is unnecessarily cumbersome in mixxx because you have to explicitly search for compatible tracks. it can do this, but doesn’t make any attempt at being helpful by e.g. just highlighting tracks in the crate/playlist you’re looking at

iced depresso (icedquinn@blob.cat)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jul-2024 15:04:48 JST iced depresso @jesu @mia it mostly loads the next song in to an open deck and waits for the playing one to get to the designated exit point, then crossrfades to the next one.
i don't know what it does if you are in 4-deck mode though.
there isn't so much a play button as an enable the autodj button. the only play buttons are on the decks themselves and that's bypassing the autodj if you touch those -

jesu (jesu@pl.kotobank.ch)'s status on Wednesday, 03-Jul-2024 15:04:50 JST jesu @icedquinn @mia it kinda... stops and goes to the previous song, so when I hit play it plays the previous song, from a stopped position after the "current/next" song starts
