    i cant wait for the uk election to be over because right now the trans community is split with both sides thinking the other side is effectively turkeys voting for christmas.

      Because the real scary thing is that support for trans legal rights in the UK, the ability for trans people to become recognised as their sex/gender, precipitously dropped from 2016 from 58% in favour, 25% against to 2023 with only 24% in favour, 50% against.

      The next uk governmental term could see an absolute collapse of any support for trans legal rights in uk public opinion if they dont want to or dont find a way to counter fears and prove that the extremist positions that the Tories have increasingly stoked for the last 8 years are not based in reality.

      Thats the grizzly reality. If the polls are wildly wrong and the Tories win, we are just fully flat out doomed. The polls were wrong for Miliband, the polls were wrong for Remain, im going to be a wound up ball of fear until its shown these polls werent wrong.

      i will happily discuss and argue over how and whether Labour is being too centrist, too pussyfooting, too cautious or even two faced and secretly not supportive in any positions on trans rights, but only when they are actually the government.

      I will take surviving first with the removal of the Tories so that we can actually have those discussions.

      @maya_b yes, i would love him to have run an actually progressive socialist manifesto campaign but to give them their dues they have managed to keep their 20 point lead and kept themselves so close to the Tories with lack of any gaffes, own goals and kept themselves the slimmest possible from bieng a target on nearly anything that idk.. they have to fix the economic disparity in the uk and healthcare or we're going to be france in 5 years.

      I know im not the target voter they're courting. I dont trust Starmer to not completely change his spots post election, he's a total snake of a politician but not morally bankrupt.

      @siege

      With Starmer demonstrating he can be more Tory than Tories, he has a pretty good chance of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

      For a former human rights prosecutor he has not impressed on that front.

      Though I'm still holding out hope the tories are completely wiped out.

      @maya_b and like, beggars cant be choosers, i will take a centrist snake if it gives me a chance at literally surviving over literal death from another Tory government.

      @maya_b I forget the right hand mans name, i was his multi year plan to actually return Labour to government after the destruction in 2019. Starmer was the best chance at getting the £5 idealist membership voters to back - then go on a long campaign of disenfranchising those same members who joined from Seamus Milne's orchestrated kidnapping of the party. Then consolidate message so it targets socially conservative red wall voters to heal Brexit divide, and Scotland voters.

      He definitely isn't the Starmer I forked out £25 for in the labour leadership contest. Or the Starmer that stumped for Remain

      He's chasing some ... poll? ... focus group? ... something ... but yea I don't trust him, and wait and see would be terrifying if I were still in the UK
