   Mini review of "Asa: The Girl Who Turned into a Pair of Chopsticks" by Natsuko Imamura, translated by Lucy North, with an Afterword by Sayaka Murata translated by Ginny Tapley Takemori:
   I loved this. I really enjoyed Natsuko Imamura's "The Woman in the Purple Skirt", but this collection of short stories is more openly weird and very surreal, and often truly chilling, none more so than the second story, "Nami, Who Wanted to Get Hit (and Eventually Succeeded)", which I found particularly disturbing.

   Sayaka Murata's Afterword puts it nicely: "the border between reality and illusion is blurred without any sense of incongruity, and the stories seem all the more true to life for this".

   Incidentally, if you like Sayaka Murata's work, then I think you'll enjoy this too.

     @mollymay5000 yeah, in that case I'm not sure either, Convenience Store Woman is one of Murata's less disturbing books IMO...😉

     @mario I was rather neutral about Purple Skirt and Convenience Store Woman upset me, so I'm not actually sure 😂
