Here's an ironic thing about the #Philippines.
The number one tourist and migration in the country are South Koreans. But no store accepts Korean wallets.
There's a huge gap to the second, mainland Chinese, yet WeChat Pay is accepted in many stores.

The PH's top e-wallet GCash is partly owned by Alibaba while Maya is partly owned by Tencent. That could partly explain the ubiquity of WeChat Pay and Alipay in the country
@youronlyone Likely because China is investing in that.
Like, in the US, you can't throw a rock without hitting a Thai restaurant, because the Thai government has spend 40 years investing in establishing Thai restaurants in the US.
My small town has three Thai restaurants.
There are over ten times as many FilAms in America, but finding a Filipino restaurant is very rare, even though Filipino cuisine has been hyped in recent years in the US.
@youronlyone There are a lot of mainland Chinese in the Philippines today compared to Koreans. You can see them mainlanders everywhere... POGO scammers, fake town mayors, CCP spies, and a few tourists 😂
@jepoy Hahaha, true that. POGO, spies, fake mayors. ^_^
@jikodesu @gcvsa Ooh. Wow. I had no idea until now GCash and Maya are partly owned by mainland China companies. O_O
