      @jeffowski i understand the purpose, but for an European this sounds so absolutely weird. As if it is normal for Americans to be shot when you go out the door. This must feel like everyday war.

      @Dodo_sipping -- LMAO... It happens in Europe too. Your gun laws are pretty strict but it doesn't stop all attacks. (points to European gun violence statistics).

      @elfin -- Don't Lie...

      If you can go onto YouTube and see many examples of how this doesn't actually work, coming onto this thread to claim: "They *work* (used both in the field in a pinch) and they're usually handy" is outright IRRESPONSIBLE.

      @jeffowski Also:
      * Tampons => Pokey Wounds.
      * Maxi Pads => Slashey Wounds.

      They *work* (used both in the field in a pinch) and they're usually handy.

      I see in this thread much pearl-clutching vis-a-vis Shootings, but all of these tools work for Everyday sort of stuff, like say, a construction site, or extended camping trip. People get hurt and bleed all the time from things other than gunshot wounds (tampons and packing tape).

      Ever seen a hiker fall and get skewered by a stick?

      @Bluezcrab496 --

      Yeah... people don't understand how much blood there is and how fast people can die from blood loss.

      Seconds count, and having a kit ready all the time WILL SAVE A LIFE.

      As a former EMT, I can improvise a lot of different solutions, but you just don't have that time in these situations.

      Sure, you can make a chest seal with plastic food wrap and duct tape but that person is going to bleed out while you look for those things.

      Thank you for volunteering.

      After the Parkland High School shooting my place of work offered Stop the Bleed training conducted by the city fire department. Not for the squeamish.
