I just did the supremely autistic thing of watching three videos in a row about autism, by people who are diagnosed with autism.
I call bullshit.
I've not even been diagnosed with autism, yet I'd rather date a nigger than do the extremely extroverted thing of talking into a camera.
Those people aren't autistic, they're just self-absorbed.

  @cowanon @gnarley_boot @Huntress I’m not autistic, but dealing with people, while often enjoyable, is quite exhausting and I often go to great lengths to secure very significant stretches of time alone.

  My little brother has real autism like the Rainman movie, retardation and was aggressive and prone to violent episodes when he was young (he's much better now). He has to live in either a state hospital or group home his entire life and is mentally 12 if best. I don't get normal, functioning adults branding themselves autistic because "cry I have to talk to stranger..."

I swing wildly between needing social interaction to feeling utter exhaustion at the thought of leaving the house. I can go out regularly to socialise then get burned and stay in the house and try and avoid people for months.
  
  I think we all need some solace from the world though so I think it is quite normal.

  @Dan_Hulson @cowanon @gnarley_boot @Huntress Right; even the wildly-popular term “introverted” strikes me a bit too strongly; while I very often tend that way, I’ve got loads of examples where social interactions indeed left me wanting more social interactions. Usually, the opposite is true, but not always. And of course the tendency to pathologize any normal variation is itself, imo, a societal pathology.

  I have no problem talking to strangers. Im very extroverted if i want to be. I have just always hates people and dont want to interact with them. Im perfectly fine if i dont leave the house for a month or dont talk to other people. Stuff like this is far more than enough for interpersonal relationships. Ive had friends who feel the need to meet as many new people as they can and i dont get it. I dont need strangers fucking my day up.
