   @redstarfish I would be very surprised if telegram WASNT doing the most shady shit on serverside. The keep branding themselves as "open-source" but that is just completely fake because it only applies to the frontend client.

   Imo they are just smart and won't get caught. Doesn't mean it isn't one of the most shady companies on this planet.

   I personally have started migrating from telegram to signal. Will take a couple of months but I sent wait to uninstall telegram 🫠

     @redstarfish they aren't feeding it to ML, they're feeding it to the FSB (and most likely secret chats too).

     We have cases when people tried to leave occupied territories, and got into trouble because russians had a list of phone numbers which he synced into Telegram a while ago, but deleted from the phone.

     @redstarfish FYI you can use Beeper with signal. I'm pretty sure they use some kind of matrix bridge, but the current version only works with their beeper.net matrix server.

     If your friends are using #Android you might have a look at the #xmpp Android app #monocleschat which has a basic sticker functionality. Sticker are sent as pictures and can also be seen on other xmpp apps that do not support stickers (if I remember it correctly).
