@theleftfist Yeah...with the way they're doing things, it's making it seem like they're colluding with WWE and TNA for an "assisted suicide" of major company...😳
I really hope they get their shit together and realize that doubling down isn't working.
@BeAware I don't know what it would take for them now; it would have to be a major star and it's not realistic to expect them to ever sign a John Cena or a Rock, who are so embedded in the WWE corporate world. And AEW is even less appealing now since their downturn with lower ratings and emptier arenas. They did actually have one of the biggest stars they could ever get and that was one of the few contracts Tony Khan ever terminated. All stemming from the fact The Elite were angry he wouldn't be friends with Colt Cabana. Embarrassing. I hope it was worth the mess they're in now. They'll need a huge boost from Warner Bros Discovery to have any chance.
@theleftfist facts. I'd watch them if their storylines made sense and we're decently entertaining. But the ones they have are just so boring and there's just so little of it. It's fictional TV. Not a sport. They need to start treating it as such at the very least because even if they COULD sign The Rock, if he's just fighting people to fight them, I wouldn't watch that either.
They need to get back to basics first or nothing else they try will work.
@BeAware The most common thing I get people saying is exactly what you just said: the stories are weak. It felt like they had them initially mapped out upon launching (Omega/Page, Dark Order, Pinnacle, etc) and it was obvious (in a positive way) that Jericho, Moxley, Omega, Page were going to be their first slate of world champions, but when it should have then been MJF with a babyface chasing him for the title, Tony Khan jumped the shark and rushed the strap onto Punk who didn't even want it that soon (and clearly didn't mesh with Page). Tony Khan never knew how to utilise Punk. Which supports your claim that he wouldn't know how to utilise The Rock. Even Mercedes has already cooled off. People's careers are not benefitting from a run in AEW the way it once seemed.
