Important Context for the above post:

Ramzimo68 here recently appeared on the FediBlock tag for posting a video, which he described as "true facts", in which some guy goes down the list of all the "Jews" in the CDC, repeatedly ending every description with the single word sentence, "Jew.", during a conference about COVID, literally attempting to make a case that some part of COVID is part of a Jewish conspiracy.

In my opinion as a moderator, criticizing the violent policies of the Netanyahu regime is well within the realm of acceptable political speech, but what Ramzimo68 here has been posting is pure and direct hate-speech against Jews, which clearly violates the rules of pretty much every mainstream server.

This does not reflect on LALegault: I do not know why she was banned, as I have never seen a bannable offense from her. I just think it's important to know about Ramzimo68's post here, as he has pinned it to the top of his timeline.

@Raccoon @LALegault @Gargron @DocScranton Hey Raccoon, thanks for bringing this to my attention. I found the post you mentioned. It’s no longer pinned to Ramzi’s profile so I had to scroll a bit. In any case, you’re entirely right, that is pure antisemitism combined with Covid denial/conspiracy theories with a side of transphobia for good measure. It’s entirely unacceptable and I’ll be suspending/blocking his account from my server.

      @Raccoon @aral @LALegault Regarding this post (I'm blocked so here's a screenshot):

"Holocaust inversion" accusations ring hollow because it means "it's antisemitic to compare Israel to Nazis". If this is antisemitism, then antisemites include:

      - Holocaust survivor and anti-fascist Victor Klemperer
      - Hannah Arendt (in 1948)
      - Zionist Israeli firebrand Yeshayahu Leibowitz
      - Israeli Holocaust historian Omer Bartov
      - Likud (true but for other reasons)

Comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany
Comparisons between Israel and Nazi Germany occur frequently in some veins of anti-Zionism in relation to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict. The legitimacy of these comparisons and their potential antisemitic nature is a matter of debate. Historically, figures like historian Arnold J. Toynbee have drawn parallels between Zionism and Nazism, a stance he maintained despite criticism. Scholar David Feldman suggests these comparisons are often rhetorical tools without specific antisemitic intent. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) sees them as diminishing the Holocaust's significance. According to political scientist Ian Lustick, a professor at the University of Pennsylvania, such comparisons are "a natural if unintended consequence of the immersion of Israeli Jews in Holocaust imagery". A wide variety of political figures and governments have made the comparison historically, an example being the administration of the Soviet Union in the context of the Six-Day War within 1960s era Cold War divisions. Politicians in the 21st century who have done so include the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Brazilian President Lula da Silva, Venezuelan...

@aral @Raccoon @LALegault @Gargron @DocScranton@roysbeer.place the phrases "Zionist occupied government" or "Zionist controlled media" is usually an indicator of antisemitism. It's often by used by people who simply mean "Jewish."

Seeing that phrase already set off alarm bells for me, so I trust Aral when he says he dug further.

@nus @Raccoon @LALegault Yeah, that Gavi dude can go fuck himself. If wanting to stop a genocide is antisemitic, then I’m antisemitic to my core. And that’s funny because I’d take a bullet for any Jew that was being persecuted for their ethnicity. So yeah, he can fuck right off.

@aral @nus @Raccoon @LALegault the tactic of poisoning public debate by conflating criticism of the Israeli regime with antisemitism is the worst kind of apologia for genocide, and is a tactic that the regime itself uses regularly to try to justify their innumerable crimes against humanity in the eyes of the public.

@ramin_hal9001 @nus @Raccoon @LALegault If there is one entity making Jews everywhere unsafe today, it is the Israeli state with its ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people and its conflation of criticism of Israel with antisemitism which threatens to leave the latter – a very real thing – devoid of all meaning.

@aral Among other things, the "Holocaust inversion" claims have been tacked onto the IHRA Working Definition Of Antisemitism, something the creator of the IHRA working definition has criticized it anti-Palestinian:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_definition_of_antisemitism#Original_drafter

This is the definition that Evangelical Dominionist Neocons like Mike Johnson have been trying to codify, to suppress criticism of Israel. These neocons see Jews as bringing the Apocalypse *and* destined for hell...

        Working definition of antisemitism
The working definition of antisemitism, also called the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism or IHRA definition, is a non-legally binding statement on what antisemitism is, that reads: "Antisemitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of antisemitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities." Accompanying the working definition, but of disputed status, are 11 illustrative examples whose purpose is described as guiding the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) in its work, seven of which relate to criticism of the Israeli government. As such, pro-Israeli organizations have been advocates for the worldwide legal adoption of the definition. The definition was developed during 2003–04 and first published on 28 January 2005 on the website of the European Union agency, the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia (EUMC). The publication was made "without formal review", and remained a working...
