Lina Inver?e (lina@eientei.org)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 09:47:42 JST Lina Inver?e @waifu eh depends, i personally just can't stand the spyware aspect, the whole licensing shit thing has been a non issue at least since windows xp as people learned to pirate it, and it's buggy and vulnerability riddled too, but that's to be expected from a system that ended up being the number one used system in the world, too much attention on it, its perfect for casual usage, but i wouldn't host a server on windows and as i said the visuals and audio were kino until vista, so it's really not that bad of a system under some circumstances and im at least glad i can pull out and sew in the one aspect i miss from windows which is the visuals and audio lol -

waifu (waifu@mai.waifuism.life)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 09:47:43 JST waifu @lina@eientei.org thing is that i also took the gnu pill so i kinda see the things it does in a different light now, so it really is like that, just that I don't normally show it, it's kinda similar to the hatred I have for adobe and disney just for different reasons

Suzu (suzu@detroitriotcity.com)'s status on Tuesday, 11-Jun-2024 10:03:36 JST Suzu @lina @waifu people pirate Windows since 3.11, and as much as Microsoft does that song and dance about "the ebul pirates", they enjoy it, because piracy was what kept Windows at a billion % marketshare. I actually wouldn't put past it Microsoft itself "leaking" the pirated versions to help train people who will demand Windows machines in the workplace.
And the spyware aspect is getting worse day by day. My company-issued laptop runs Windows, and these past few weeks I was forced to use it more (I tend to use my home desktop for work, but I'm not at home), and that copilot thing already started working, it seems, and shit is absolutely scary. These fuckers are literally screenshoting and recording everything you do, even if my machine doesn't have a NPU (which, according to Microsoft, was a prereq for it to work so it could be done locally), I still can push a button and Windows will show me screens with documents, pictures and web pages I opened weeks ago, and tell me what they are so "I can find what I'm looking for easier".
Honestly, I've been considering getting permission from my manager to wipe out Windows and install openSuse or something like that instead.
