寮 (ryo@social.076.ne.jp)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Nov-2022 20:00:49 JST 寮 A Russian woman who can only speak Russian and a little bit of German who's here for only 1 month is able to talk her way through here in Japan using just Goolag Translate and offline language packs, she has been able to buy and return items, confirm washing machine parts, drive around in buses in the country side, and all that just fine.
Meanwhile, Eikaiwa teachers who can only speak English living here for multiple decades already are still completely dependent on their native Japanese speaking wife, husband, or kids for the most basic tasks, because "MUH JABANESE 2 DIFFICURR!!".
Let that sink in.-

寮 (ryo@social.076.ne.jp)'s status on Wednesday, 02-Nov-2022 20:20:59 JST 寮 @matana The point is, why the fuck would you want to permanently live in a country you refuse to learn the language of?
And how comes a random tourist who can't communicate in any language people here might maybe know a bit can get around fine on her own, while residents who can speak 1 to 3 languages less than 1% of the population might be vaguely familiar with can't do shit without any help, whether it be from a bilingual human being or some machine? -
