@jeffcliff @AsukaNeko the problem is that when you see to make things fair as the utlimate good, then hurting people to make things equal is a valid tool.

@sickburnbro Life isn't fair.

@AsukaNeko @sickburnbro we can make it more fair with our actions, though.
[ either or both ex post and ex ante, as we are given the option ]

@jeffcliff @AsukaNeko note that I'm specifically talking about how setting what seems like a nice goal can cause you to eventually justify means.
This is why I specifically caution people about talking about equality in a positive light.

@AsukaNeko @sickburnbro not sure why you're tagging me in this
the ends do not justify all means

@sickburnbro @jeffcliff You have stumbled upon the liberal mindset where the ends justify all means.

@jeffcliff @AsukaNeko So the traditional christian belief of doing work to alleviate the suffering of the poor seems to be a more meta-stable arrangement.
Note how there is also "the poor will always be with you" - versus the equality mindset sees it as a battle to be won, and thus an achievable goal which can have temporary cruel things done.

@jeffcliff @AsukaNeko Yes, extremely typical of me to point this out. Note that you are not talking to me when you set up my strawman.
I am not anti-populist, but you cannot help make me that way. Ask yourself why you do that, if you wish to be better.

@AsukaNeko typical @sickburnbro unable to see how such a goal does not need to spiral down the slippery slope and how reasonable people can stop way, way before it gets to that point
>This is why I specifically caution people about talking about equality in a positive light.
ie
"someone, somewhere could be stupid therefor we have to put up with billionaires raping children and using and controlling the world's means of production to their own benefit opposed to yours / suck their cock etc etc etc"

@AsukaNeko @sickburnbro If only more people could figure out that it's equally unfair to those with good things to destroy what they do have because another lacks it.
This "if I can't have it nobody can" is too common.
