I miss the Twitter from before. It was so deliciously bad for you, like cigarettes and hairspray and liquid cheese and all the best things. Now it’s like consuming PFAS.
I miss the old Target. Remember when it was like walking into a Nintendo DS Lite filled with colorful garbage? The largest, shiniest, solid pieces of garbage. Oh, how we would play for hours, making up stories about what we’d do with the garbage. Then we’d each choose one of pieces of garbage and take it home and keep it in our house for two years and then throw it away. What a joy! Like spitting.
Now it’s like a prison for laundry detergent and Target is the loan shark offering you bail money.

No it’s a prison for laundry detergent and Target is the loan shark offering you bail money.
Every corporation was kind of good at something once. It’s how they tricked us. There used to be a place called Sears where you could go to fight with your family and eat mall food and buy the ugliest clothing scientists could develop. Now you have to do that on Temu while you stand over the sink. It’s not the same.
@ryanhoulihan I distinctly remember someone on original Rails fail-whale Twitter beta following me because our first names were both Justin and there weren't many other Justins on there.
It was always going to either enshittify or die out, but for a while, it felt like there was a long runway before the soul left the body.
@ryanhoulihan I certainly remember taking my DS Lite to the demo/download hotspot at Target. I still go for clothes and food (since Costco got rid of the good grilled chicken strips) but not much else.
@ryanhoulihan oh I see, thanks. Everything seems weird you know 😂. So my reply to you is just between you & I (private). I just hope I don't uninstall soon, lol. Well I'll have to make friends
@ryanhoulihan Now that I have money and autonomy, I would like to shop at CompUSA and browse the PDAs and chunky computers with lots of ports and boxed copies of simulation games that come with a bound manual that's 3 pages of instructions and someone's 300 page research essay. But it's like that novel. You can't go to CompUSA again. 😔
