Late to the party here: Gris is a just a •gorgeous• and deeply satisfying game. Beautiful example of a game that’s focused on creating an aesthetic experience — and of the unique kind of experience that only a video game, with its sense of •agency•, can create.

I’m speaking carefully, because I don’t want to say too much and spoil the game for those who haven’t played but:
All video games create a sense of agency in the player. (“I made it happen,” “I solved it,” “I beat it,” “I accomplished it.”) In this particular game, the plot is about the player character losing her sense of agency — and as the player acquires new in-game abilities, the main character reclaims her agency. Gameplay is story.

@inthehands That looks exceptional. TY for the tip. I mostly don't track games but am starting to pay more attention for my kids.

If you’re looking for artful games that are kid-friendly, I’ll also put in a mention of Monument Valley — just in case you haven’t already seen it. Exquisite, and approachable but nicely challenging puzzles. -

@bassthang
Worth it. Crank the resolution (even though some assets are lower res than others). -
