@MMS21 @Hyperhidrosis The Galaxy Nexus was the best phone I ever had, the size was just perfect. And it had MHL so I could output HDMI to my TV. It could run aftermarket ROMs. At one point I had my entire apartment running off the phone. I could hook up the phone to my TV and stream from my home network or Netflix. I had a hotspot so my laptop could get online. It was perfect.

Removing ports saves money and dongles wear out ports, it’s twice as effective for fleecing customers.
Pixel went down the same path as OnePlus. Now there’s the Nothing phone which is another gimmick made by someone who was involved with OnePlus.
Before both of then there was the Nexus and it was perfect: vanilla Android and hardware out sourced to a different manufacturer each time. Okay maybe not perfect but as close as you could get to a cheap flagship.
They tried to revive the Nexus type phones with the Xiaomi A2 I believe (Android One?) but that died out too.
I tried finding alternatives and came across Sony, they have insane specs but the software is barely updated and the bootloader is locked. It’s like no one is even trying.

@MMS21 latest pixel have lost their identity tbh.
best pixels were the a series and the last pixel I'll ever use is the 3.
majority of modern day tech is straight up garbage
the hardware is cool and all
but software is full of subscription
you have to buy accessories to even be able to utilize the hardware i.e dongles
just this last semester so many people with macs couldn't plug in hdmi cable to their computer because it doesn't have one and apple doesn't give you adapter so they just end up asking people during the presentation to borrow one.
phones only have one port now a days
even external sd card isn't supported on flagships.

@MMS21 2017-19 was the last good era of phones imo.
I stopped following phones after that. Just got boring.
even foldable iteration is the same now

Same. Foldables were always a gimmick for normies, they’re designed to break even more than traditional smartphones.
Any major change will have hardware and software issues on top of being expensive. Somehow nobody noticed that they were beta testing and paying for it. Technology companies really are cults.
Android went the same way as Apple so there’s no point in picking a Samsung over an iPhone. Even the cheaper Androids (Xiaomi) locked down bootloaders and removed the headphone jack which was my entire reason for buying them.
idrc if iOS copies Android years later because I don’t use any of these retarded “features” anyway. Modern Android is locked down and copies iOS anyway, may as well get an iPhone with blue bubbles at this point.
Why would someone purchase the latest Pixel over an iPhone? They cost the same and have identical cloud services (e.g. iCloud/ Google Drive).

@MMS21 majority of phones from like 2018 will last for a long time
given battery is replaced

Yea I need to get the battery replaced. This might be the last goated iPhone, the ones after have minor changes not worth upgrading for. They brought back the iPhone 4 design on the 12, before this they kept making thin slippery slates for years.

@sun @MMS21 @Hyperhidrosis I hated all my phones. I had an Alcatel with a qwerty keyboard that was okay I guess

@sun @Hyperhidrosis @MMS21 I remember the keyboard being decent. but I was a child back then and my fingers were smaller, maybe it would not seem like a decent keyboard now
