     @takao @lain @feld if it's the same guy I'm thinking of he was permitted to carry swords, and some people very liberally call this a samurai (it's not.) Basically there is a cottage industry around Afrocentrism that needs this guy to be a samurai. It's not enough that he was part of the royal court and treated with respect and granted privileges he has to be a SAMURAI
