I know many people find that Xitter has become an unreadable grifter nazi hell hole, but I just looked at my timeline over there, the "Following" one, and it was so full with beautiful #art that I got sad. Filling my feed with just a shitload of amazing art from past and present is one of the things I have not been able to recreate over here, not nearly to the same degree. And yes I know about the relevant hashtags and art focused servers and all that.

play in progress (playinprogress@assemblag.es)'s status on Wednesday, 15-May-2024 14:08:12 JST play in progress It's a bit funny to me that as many people had been calling Xitter a "hellsite" already for years, it was actually easier for me to fill my feed with things that give me joy over there than it is here. And somehow also less aggressively depressing things. Yes, I put quite a bit of thought & effort into how I curated things over there. I do the same here. But somehow here is harder for me.

There were a whole bunch of them a while ago at arthaus.social, but that somehow fell asleep, and I have not seen any similar endeavors anywhere since 😢 I dearly miss my daily dose of Zinaida Serebriakova, or Fantin-Latour, or anyone propagating Stephen Ellcock's curations, or the artistsofcolour account, or all the art accounts retweeting each others' most beautiful images.

simsa03 (simsa03@gnusocial.jp)'s status on Wednesday, 15-May-2024 14:15:29 JST simsa03 I guess the #fediverse is less for curating things but for tight-knit "communities", i.e., self-affirming opinion-bubbles. The main difference between here and there is that the fediverse still seems to be more conversation-based and less sloganeering-based as X. OTOH: The myriad of topical threads I can find there is far better than in the fediverse, at least of what I know and see of it. Here I am because of people, there I am because of topics. Can't have both, it seems. scribe likes this. -
