Mike Masnick ✅ (mmasnick@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 16-May-2024 04:14:09 JST Mike Masnick ✅ @CStamp @rabble i would at least push back and say that is *not* the American conception of free speech. It may be the conception of a few very dumb Americans, but it is far from the actual concept of free speech in America.

Carolyn (cstamp@mastodon.social)'s status on Thursday, 16-May-2024 04:14:10 JST Carolyn @rabble @mmasnick It is always a huge issue when anyone decides that a solution is going to serve everyone. It is impossible. Moderation is always needed. Even Mastodon is comprised of different instances, each with t&c decided by the host.
Folk need to decide who their audience is and behave accordingly. This American notion of free speech meaning everyone is able to spout off about everything, with not only no consequence but the expectation of an audience, is absurd and unworkable.
