I probably need to install Windows, in order to run a proprietary glorified rsyncd that updates and SD card.
There was a thread about cheap licenses recently, where Moonman used some kind of weird channel to obtain one, and someone replied: "the ones sold at eBay for $25 worked for me".
Does anyone remember what it was about?
I didn't touch Windows for 20 years, since before XP and before "online activation".

@sun Stupid question: can it run on 8GB RAM? I have an old laptop that I thought about using.

@zaitcev you can maybe buy an OEM key or something, or a boxed copy you can move elsewhere
Or never activate
You sure it doesn't work on wine?

@coolboymew It's not for one time. I'm going to need it periodically, whenever a new GPS database is published.

@zaitcev can't you just install and activate later and never do it if it's just for a one time use?

@sun @coolboymew @zaitcev i have an old win 7 machine that apparently some pajeet sold with a pirated copy of win7, so i just put 7pro back on it after doing some work on it, it keeps asking me to activate and i'm like yea sure buddy i'll do that later and i just dont
so it can def be done, and you can get deployments of 8 easy, i think chris titus has a utility for that as well
