A writing hashtag I follow is having a conversation about "AI", and it's taking all my fucking strength of will not to wade in like a reply guy fact checking service.
Some people are managing to be wrong in multiple directions at once.

Yeah, I'm currently in the "unless you are paying me to provide opinion, examples and explanations about this stuff, I am certainly not going to volunteer any of that" camp.
It's incredibly emotive, and I can see why, because the most prominent firms involved in its promotion have all the ethical standards and instinct for truth of a Tory party conference, but there's a fuck of a lot of magical thinking, misinformation and simple error floating around.
@HauntedOwlbear it's just gonna be 'one of those' topics for a long, long while.
I'm absolutely practising a 'nope, not answering THAT' methodology because people don't want to be (factually) right on this topic
@lunarloony I'm still mildly surprised that a clutch of technically interesting but often fundamentally unreliable proofs of concept have somehow been packaged up and rolled out as business-to-business snake oil to solve largely non-existent problems.
(I originally said I was amazed by this, but I've been through enough tech hype cycles to really not have that degree of surprise anymore.)
@HauntedOwlbear I'm struggling a bit with this because my manager, and at least one of the execs, at my workplace are going all-in on this so-called AI business. (My manager isn't yet aware that I disabled Copilot et al in Windows 11...!)
