     @davidtoddmccarty @terrygrundy The “fun” part at the moment as hit the final strides is trying to convince my wife not to try and remake what we’re leaving, but to potentially embrace what will be new possibilities.

     I keep reminding her that the next show won’t be like the last.

     @WarnerCrocker @terrygrundy I have zero interest in moving but I’m a little jealous of the opportunity to change things up. Not just how things are situated, but how I am situated in the world. What’s nearby? Who is close? What’s the view? What are the possibilities?

     You don’t know until you do. It’s a bit of a thrill.

     @terrygrundy @davidtoddmccarty One of the things I love about doing theatre is traveling and being in different places. The older I get though I find the need to return to a home base a stronger pull than it used to be.

     @davidtoddmccarty @WarnerCrocker I have a friend, a man who literally has no fixed abode. He moves from city to city, continent to continent, as the spirit moves him. He’s also a loyal correspondent and stays in touch with his sprawling network of friends, whom he reliably visits when he passes through one of their cities.

     @WarnerCrocker @terrygrundy Reareanging the nest is difficult. Some of us are less tied to consistency than others. I think I could move anywhere and be perfectly happy. Not so sure my partner would feel the same.

     @davidtoddmccarty @terrygrundy For most of my life home was in a theatre more than it was the domicile I lived in. I distinctly remember when that began to change. But I still like to embrace a bit of the gypsy lifestyle.

     @WarnerCrocker @terrygrundy Yes. I used to travel a ton. I enjoyed BEING in new places but increasingly, it was the getting there and back again I began to resent. But I don’t think home is a place. It’s a mindset. It’s safety, comfort and familiarity.

     @davidtoddmccarty @terrygrundy There wea a time when I was doing work in Russian theatre (so much different than here) as I would wander the halls and backstage among the artists and craftspersons who did what they did for a lifetime when I thought I might really prefer showing up every day, checking the call boarfd and heading to my assignment for rehearsal. Another lifetime ago.

     @WarnerCrocker @terrygrundy My family moved a lot when I was young. Even though it was a rather short part of my existence, it was formative. I don’t feel like I’m from anywhere. My wife is different. If I weren’t married, I doubt I would be living in America. I don’t know where I’d be, but it would be someplace else.
