@nosherwan well...for my current personal instance I am using Mastodon. However, I'm currently in the process of researching Misskey and Sharkey (Misskey fork) because I'm launching a small community Sharkey instance for a few folks in my circle. Whenever Sharkey finishes their "Mastodon API" feature rewrite, I'll hopefully be able to use my preferred app and when that happens, I'll probably move this account to the new instance as well.

What was the motivation to switch from Mastodon. The impression I get is Mastadon is good but it is resource heavy. the minimum it would require is at least $20 aud instance on DigitalOcean and not even sure how manageable that will be.

However, I am QUICKLY learning that Sharkey/Misskey docs are lacking in everything that's required to get this setup properly I feel. I went through the initial setup but instantly ran into issues.
I am a Linux noob for the most part, but I was able to get a Mastodon instance running with very little issue.
Not so lucky with Sharkey so far unfortunately. Im gonna try again tomorrow.🤷♂️
