dunno how it's in practice, but they allowed it recently:
> For many years, the Grand Orient would not allow its lodges to initiate women, but did recognize and receive women who were made Freemasons in other jurisdictions. This changed in 2010, and after some setbacks, the Grand Orient currently allows the initiation of women.[45] -

everyone is the protagonist of their own story, so the appeal of clubs with secret initiation rituals that offer insider knowledge is understandable. this pattern dates back to pre-history and early history with e.g. mithraism.
friendship among men often stems from shared experiences, a trait thought to be rooted in our evolutionary past of collaborative hunting. this contrasts with how women often form bonds through conversation and empathy. therefore, access to a tight-knit group of men, united by a common initiation experience, can simplify the dynamics of becoming close friends :comfy: -

Yes, everyone is the protagonist of their own story. I've never had need to get friends on that way, by joining in clubs, have friends enough otherwise, men and women, but of course everyone may act in their own ways. I was only a little surprised when I red your toots, but I'll try to think about it, without prejudices. It's only the Christianity here, that makes me a little hesitating.
