   I really thought that as a society we were past the phrase 'women and children'?

   a) it's infantilising to women
   b) it treats all men as legitimate targets

   What are we doing here, people?

     Do you mean like as in: 'women and children first' ??

     I thought that was just to ensure the survival of the species in the event of a life-threatening crisis. 🤔

     Oh, I see.

     In this case, I'm sure this is meant to evoke more sympathy, but also goes back to what I was saying about the survival of the people, since 'women and children' represent the potential to rebuild the communities.

     As twisted as it sounds, I think people are more likely to think of men as being more expendable.

     Plus, I think a lot of people wrongly believe all of the men are complicit in the initial attacks... which sucks. This whole thing sucks.

     @jacklaridian As in 'most of those killed in the strike were women and children.'
