There's a vocal contingent on here who get mad whenever anything "pop culture " is mentioned (fashion, sports, music) and need to loudly announce how much they don't care about whatever the latest event is

@sylphrin Tags, like CWs, get used variably. especially since filters don't require tags to activate.
I've got a filter for "Linux" that doesn't require the # linux for instance

@sylphrin @NaClKnight there's a group of people who always talk about how it encapsulates the divide in society and maintains the status quo. The discussion a few years ago on AOC's dress being a really good example.

@NaClKnight yes, but that doesn't help if you are talking about the subject and not actually using the subject itself in your toot. For example, people talking about something regarding Linux without actually saying the word "Linux" wouldn't get picked up by your filter.
Ideally people would just use the tags to make filtering easier for others, but I know not everyone does.

I think there's a fair discussion about what topics merit a tag or a CW
