     @MisuseCase I think that it would be more accurate to say that attacking Rafah is part of the effort to destroy the possibility of a deal. If this war ends too soon, before the "legal coup" can go through, Netanyahu is likely to face early elections... And as far as I know, he's still at risk of going to prison for corruption if he ever loses the prime minister's seat @Sherifazuhur @bmacDonald94

The Rafah invasion INSTEAD of a ceasefire is intended to eradicate the population, make more orphans, cut off more limbs - showing that “never again” doesn’t apply to Palestinians

     @Sherifazuhur I was actually just having this very debate with my Rabbi, and given Netanyahu's roots in Revisionist Zionism and the Iron Wall, now that you're bringing me back to this post I'm getting more inclined to think that you're right and it's really not appropriate to dismiss as just corruption. Thanks.

     @Sherifazuhur that is certainly true. I wouldn't underestimate how much a man like Netanyahu is simply a criminal using fascist incitement to cling to power, and how much he is a true believer.

     Historically those things go together anyway, and wherever he is on the spectrum of evil between pure corruption and pure hate, I think, he and his actions are reprehensible enough. Certainly for him Never Again never meant anyone but the Jews.

     @alter_kaker @Sherifazuhur @bmacDonald94 Netanyahu may or may not be a true believer but others in his coalition and cabinet (like Itamar Ben-Gvir) sure are, and they’re egging him on.

     @alter_kaker @Sherifazuhur @bmacDonald94 Oh, so Netanyahu is going to be really motivated to keep doing what he’s doing (not that I didn’t think he was) since any election at this point will unseat him and then he goes to jail.

     While cutting off shipments of weapons and ammunition is the right thing to do (and would have been months ago), it’s barely going to slow him down, if that’s the case.

     @MisuseCase they're not just egging him on, they are threatening to bring down the government and force an early election if a case fire is signed. They'll do it too—Ben Gvir got the weapons for his brownshirt militia, so from his perspective if Netanyahu can't deliver a dictatorship or at least a successful genocide, he might no longer be needed.
