      @pa @NPR @actuallyautistic some autistic persons would be glad to be freed from some manifestations of their autism, independantly from any ableist comments of the society around. These persons deserve as much care and attention as the autistic people who don't have such needs.
      Fighting for autism representation and acceptance is also fighting for the fulfilling of every autistic people's needs. Yes, even if it's a cure for some autistic manifestations.

      @NPR Here we go again... "treating autism". NPR, can't you do better? Or we're going back to treating homosexuality and transgender as well? 🤬

      @pa @Dremmwel @NPR @actuallyautistic

      Yes, I think many of us agree that our condition is not a disease to be cured, but only a difference. And besides, there is no 'cure'. The only way to stop autists from being born is eugenics, and I hope everyone knows how wrong and undesirable eugenics is...

      The fact is that all 'therapies' offered to autists or their guardians are not intended to benefit *us*. They are intended to make us more convenient, and less disturbing, for NTs. 😐

      @Dremmwel @NPR @actuallyautistic That's two very different animals. Treating/curing autism, means rewiring my hyperconnected/underconnected brain. It's a hard pass for me, I very much enjoy what this brain brought into my life.
      Somehow getting magical support for the harmful manifestations of autism? Yeah, I could live with that, only temporarily, and only when I choose so. Even my most extreme reactions, over 50+ years, turned out to improve my life.
