@Tony hancock is wrong but I don't blame him for coming on the show on the offensive considering that Flint Dibble (IF that is his real name) came in with a coordinated document by archaeologists effectively implying that Hancock is in cahoots with white supremacists. If someone does that (if it's not true and it's not) then you can go ahead and assume the other person is acting bad faith and an asshole. This was Dibble's misstep since he seemed to have plenty of other good evidence that Hancock was wrong and Hancock repeatedly hung himself with his own rope.
Basically all that Hancock has is, that archaeology is full of shit because almost all places in the distant past we would be interested in are underwater now and completely inaccessible or destroyed. That's it. He has one reasonable statement that undermines mainstream archaeology and nothing significant that props up his own theories, just conjecture ("it COULD mean this")
@Tony what was incredibly irritating is that dibbler claimed hancock claimed there was a conspiracy against him and hancock is basically like, it's not a conspiracy it's out in the open, my wikipedia is locked, coordinated groups try to get my stuff removed from media platforms, I'm accused of disgusting lies against my person, and I am physically banned from some places.
I mean yeah this is something that happens whe you are unpopular/wrong, but it's not a "scientific" process it's a delegitimization and minimization method. And it is definitely coordinated, I guarantee this guy keeps tabs on what Hancock is doing and then sends private emails to people to try to get the stuff stopped before anybody sees it. This is a thing that people, especially people in professional organizations do.
I have a small degree of sympathy for Dibbler because he's got real experience and real knowledge and Hancock is a clown who gets a bunch of attention.
I watched most of the argument, and literally the only thing hancock falls back on is "until we survey a statistically relevant amount, we can't say 100% that we haven't missed a civilization" and Flint Dibbler refuses to grant him that and then falls into "HURR DURRR WHITE SUPREMACIST" If anything, all this debate highlighted is that hancock is right and archeology is just a liberal old boys club who gets mad when you try to discover something new.
Hancock is kinda crazy, but his theories are fun to think about. Currently it sounds like he wants to survey more of the Sahara dessert but good luck lol that place is way too hot and sandy.
