     @jsit They emerged at similar times and have always been considered peers with very different appeals. Prince (Kendrick) vs MJ (Drake) isn't tooo far off

     Drake responded poorly to a 2013 Kenny verse (Control) about aiming to be the best rapper period. Drake's response suggested personal umbrage

     Since then they've both released songs that suggest mutual animosity but never mentioned each other by name until J Cole mentioned Kenny on his verse on a recent song with song with Drake (1/2)

     Kendrick and Drake are widely considered 2 of the 3 most gifted, important, and successful artists of their generation, alongside J Cole. No one doubts that part.

     Kendrick and Drake have longstanding animosity that finally boiled over into direct, obvious diss tracks this year.
