     @WarnerCrocker For many years we had a piano my wife got from her mother. We were in a townhouse with the living area on the second floor, with a narrow staircase with two (2!) turns. I was so glad we did not “invite” some friends to help me get it in and out. Professional movers are worth it!

     @paulc I’ve moved this obviously smaller piano several times from apt to apt and half way across the continent, before my wife and I got married.

     In those early days of the relationship, when she would tell folks she hadn’t yet decided if she was going to stay in the relationship and our home in Virginia or not, I’d reply with “you sure as hell are staying. I moved your damn piano across country for you."

     @WarnerCrocker My mother had a Steinway baby grand. Amazed that my grandparents could afford it and moving it every time they moved.

     My brother inherited the piano. One time it was moved into the 3rd floor of a Brooklyn building. This involved removing the large window of the apt and using pulleys to get the piano up to the 3rd floor.
