   When I think of the sentiment behind the X-Men slogan, "Magneto was right," I find myself looking at Israel and I think, "No, he was not. Whatever horror I and the hated group I'm a part of may endure, I never wish to return this horror upon the world. I do not want to be the human conduit who transmits the violence of my oppressors forward, onto another target, and to have my target then transmit that violence forward as well. When does this end? It never ends. I will not be a part of this."

     And to be clear, I too a member of a deeply hated group who is being targeted by a state sponsored genocide in this very moment.

     I will not be a part of the human medium to transmits violence forward. I refuse to be another gear in the human machinery of oppression.

     Although fear, vengeance, and a bond with others like me might make such things tempting, in the end no one comes out of this alive.

     We all wind up killing each other as history unwinds.

     Fuck all of that.

     The volleys of violence from all sides are the result. Now multiple generations of violent exchange have unwound through the decades.

     This particular thread of human violence started with the holocaust in Nazi Germany, continued with the Nakba and the formation of the apartheid state of Israel, passed through countless exchanges of terrorism coming from Israel and Palestine responding to each other, and has erupted in today's genocide of the Palestinians.

     But to be clear, I do think what Israel is doing right now is horrific and that horror has been ongoing since the Nakba.

     I'm sorry, but responding to one's own oppression by forming a colonizing, apartheid nation is flat out awful.

     I'm also referencing that history in this thread.

     It dawns on me that people might wonder if I'm drawing a personal comparison with Jews, as a hated group who have faced state sponsored genocide, or Palestinians, as a hated group who currently faces state sponsored genocide when I penned this.

     My answer is: both.

     Although it might seem like it, I did not read A.R. Moxon's post before I wrote this thread.

     It seems like similar thoughts have passed through others minds.
