@Eiswald@s2208 fwiw couldn't find any documentation that that bag of bushings actually cost that much.
part of the reason that parts cost so much is that fighter jets have a chain of custody for every single part to make sure it's built to spec and not a chinese knockoff part that makes your fighter jet crash.
@s2208 It's all construction contract laundering. Some politician or local authority is taking a hefty sum off the top of the budget for those projects which is why they never end and will never end until they're dead or arrested.
Classic memory holed story here, today.com/news/toronto-park-stairs-estimate-65k-man-builds-them-550-t114154, is a good example of just how ridiculous and rampant this grift is. It just came up on the senate that the Air Force is paying $64,000 per little baggy of $5.00 metal components or something.
@sun@shitposter.world@Eiswald@poa.st@s2208@nicecrew.digital yes but also consider that ball bearings in things like idk, fucking jet engines might need to run at insane pressures and temperatures and be in such precision tolerances to not explode that they might be expensive tell that guy that his next flight's engine was built with harbor freight ball bearings and see how he reacts, idk what the fuck he's on about
@shibao@sun@s2208 In case 'that guy' is me. I don't fly because niggers and kikes are creating a competency crisis so bad that even if a plane was made of the finest materials it might still explode. Making this branch of the thread about that one thing instead of the overarching problem isn't going to do what you think it is either, faggot.
@Eiswald@poa.st@sun@shitposter.world@s2208@nicecrew.digital i'm just saying the guy picked like probably the single worst example of using precision machined components to illustrate government waste instead of like literally anything else involving the government
@Eiswald@s2208@shibao@sun i've driven across the US a few times. you're not getting any value for it most of the time, tbh. do it once, get your fill of scenery and small towns, then fly where you wanna go. i fly 3 or 4 times a week and never feel sad i don't get to visit Bull's Scrotum, Wyoming on my way to seattle or w/e
Plus I'm never gonna take a ship across the any ocean when i can cheaply and quickly hop over it tbqh
@s2208@shibao@sun If these people actually wanted to 'travel' they would get in a car, on a train, and on a boat to get where they're going and then walk around the places that they want to see. Not fly over 95% of the journey. lol
@Paultron@poa.st@Eiswald@poa.st@s2208@nicecrew.digital@sun@shitposter.world i basically only drive to visit places because when i travel i'm usually visiting people and when i'm visiting people we usually have similar interests and because of those similar interests my trunk is normally filled with firearms, ammunition, and alcohol if you're not normally doing this then yea i can see how flying is easier
