   After 9 months, I FINALLY follow enough people to have a "decent" Trending page with 6-7 posts!😅

   It sucks that single user instances have to deal with this issue, but it's unfortunately how Mastodon decided to build the feature. It does leave me wondering though, if it could be changed to federate "Favorites" or, if it's too heavy on the servers, make it an option to turn on or off as wanted?

   I don't know if it's possible, but I just know the Trending feature on single-user instances are almost completely useless most of the time.😩

     @BeAware There are methods of populating your feed as a single-user instance. The exact terminology escapes me, but the possibility is there.

     @BeAware It's not the easiest option since it's external, but I wrote a little script to query a number of instances for their trending info. It then de-duplicates the list and cleans it up a bit, reformats the data to be a link to my instance for each hashtag and sends me an email once a day.

     That gives me an idea of what has been trending for the last little bit each day when I check my email.

     @BeAware Yeah, probably easier. My method works for me and it's a janky little bash script but was interesting to spend a little time to get it working as well.
